BREAKING: Red Sox Coach Uproars ESPN’s Lineup Ranking as “Laughing Until You Cry” – “They’re IGNORING the Hearts of the Red Sox Nation!”.y1

As the Boston Red Sox Nation eagerly awaited the official season, a sudden media storm erupted from one of the world’s largest sports channels – ESPN. In its “Best MLB 2026 Lineups” ranking, journalist Bradford Doolittle placed the Red Sox 19th, knocking them below even lower-ranked teams like the Twins and Royals – sparking strong reactions from the coaching staff and fans.

But instead of remaining silent, the Red Sox coach spoke out—and his response was more than just mild protest: it was an emotional declaration of war against the sports press, emphasizing the team’s pride, strength, and fighting spirit.

In the latest press conference, the Red Sox coach frankly expressed his frustration:

“When you rank us 19, you’re saying absolutely nonsense. It makes me… laugh until I cry. We’re not disrespecting our opponents, but we don’t deserve to be treated like that either.”

He stressed that ESPN’s ranking “doesn’t reflect the seriousness, the effort we put in, and certainly not the actual quality of the team.” Especially since the Red Sox have made significant strategic changes to their roster, with players like Willson Contreras and Roman Anthony ready to make an impact and add depth to the lineup.

He continued:

“If they want to judge us, look at the potential, the preparation, and the statistics we’re showing in Spring Training. Putting a playoff team down to 19th place isn’t just a prediction anymore—it’s a lack of understanding.”

In its article “2026 MLB lineup rankings: Which teams have the best bats,” ESPN ranked the Red Sox 19th, just above a few other teams with lineups considered statistically and effectively weaker. What many experts and fans objected to was the comparison to teams like the Twins or Royals, who are seen as more prone to injury or less consistent in the past.

On paper, the Red Sox have proven batters, and even young talents like Roman Anthony are establishing themselves during the preseason. But ESPN gave them a… “cold” look. This made those within the organization feel that the team was being unfairly judged.

The Red Sox coach’s objections weren’t just for prestige. He made a profound point: when evaluating a team, you have to consider individual progress, team cohesion, and overall strategy, not just raw statistics.

He said:

“My players didn’t come here to be ranked 19th. They came here to fight, to improve, and to prove that the Boston Red Sox are always a formidable opponent.”

The coach also mentioned the team’s hard work last season and during the offseason to build depth—something he believes will be even more evident when the regular season begins.

The Red Sox Nation fan community also didn’t sit idly by. On social media, thousands of fans voiced their opposition to ESPN’s ranking, calling it a “disgrace to the Red Sox” and asserting that the organization was not being properly evaluated. Many fans also cited preseason statistics showing significant improvements in metrics such as batting average and basepath performance.

Some fans commented:

“ESPN is underestimating the true strength of the Red Sox!”

“If they rank us that low, we’ll show them in the playoffs!”

“Believe in the team – we’re not underestimated!”

The coach emphasized that this is only preseason and such rankings shouldn’t overshadow the team’s true goal: to play 162 games, winning every day to build a sustainable journey.

He said:

“It’s entirely possible we won’t be in the top 10 according to a newspaper. But when the real season starts, what we’re aiming for is winning, not the sidelines of the press rankings.”

While the press may publish a series of rankings, the Red Sox have responded with fighting spirit and determination. With smart additions and the development of young talent, they not only want to prove ESPN wrong — but that the Boston Red Sox can surpass all limits set before the season.

And if they do? A 19th-place finish will be just a small story in the red team’s memorable 2026 season.
