More than a decade after leaving the Chicago Cubs, MLB slugger legend Manny Ramirez unexpectedly moved fans when he publicly shared his biggest regret from his short stint with the Chicago Cubs.
In a recent interview with baseball media, Ramirez admitted that while his career was filled with many glorious moments, the Cubs remains an unfinished story in his heart.
“My biggest regret,” Ramirez said slowly, “is that I never had the chance to truly step onto the court and play a full game for the Chicago fans. I felt their love… but I didn’t get to reciprocate.”
Many younger fans may not remember that Manny Ramirez had a brief stint with the Chicago Cubs.

In 2014, as his MLB career neared its end, Ramirez signed a Minor League contract with the Cubs, hoping to write one last chapter in Major League Baseball.
At that time, many believed that “Manny Being Manny”—a nickname associated with his unique style—could bring an exciting story to Chicago.
But fate had other plans.
Ramirez was never called up to the MLB, and his journey with the Cubs ended quickly before fans at Wrigley Field had a chance to see him play.
Despite his short time in Chicago, Ramirez says the city left a deep impression on him.
He remembers the training sessions, the conversations with the young players, and especially the unique baseball atmosphere at Wrigley Field.
“Chicago is one of the cities with the greatest love for baseball I’ve ever seen,” Ramirez shared.
“Even though I was only there for a short time, I could still feel the passion of the Cubs fans.”
He added that every time he watched Cubs games afterward, he still wondered what would have happened if he had another chance.
In MLB history, Manny Ramirez is considered one of the greatest hitters.
He was a star for the Cleveland Indians before becoming an icon at the Boston Red Sox, where he won two World Series championships and left behind countless historic moments.

Ramirez ended his MLB career with over 550 home runs, thousands of hits, and the reputation of one of the most dangerous sluggers pitchers have ever faced.
However, even with such a glorious career, Ramirez admitted that every player has a few “what ifs” in their life.
For him, the Cubs were one of those “what ifs.”
After Ramirez’s statement went viral, many Cubs fans expressed their emotions on social media.
One fan wrote:
“We’ve always wondered what Manny Ramirez would look like batting at Wrigley Field. It’s a shame it never happened.”
Another commented:
“Even though Manny didn’t play for the Cubs, he’s still a fascinating part of the team’s history.”
Many even said they still want to see Ramirez appear at Wrigley Field someday, even if only as an honored guest.
Currently, Ramirez continues to be involved in baseball through various coaching and youth development activities.
He regularly participates in international baseball events and shares his experience with the new generation of players.

Even so, Ramirez can’t hide his emotions whenever he talks about the Cubs.
“Baseball is always a journey,” he says.
“You can’t rewrite history, but you can cherish the moments you’ve had.”
When asked if he’d like to return to Chicago in the future, Ramirez smiles.
“I’ve always wanted to,” he says. “Maybe not as a player… but I want to say thank you to the Cubs fans.”
He pauses briefly before adding:
“Because even though I never played a full game for them, they’re still a part of my baseball journey.”
And sometimes, in the world of sports full of records and titles, the things that never happened are the stories that people remember the longest.
