With over 68% of the votes, “El Pequeño Gigante” continues to solidify his enduring place in the hearts of fans after exactly 15 years with the Astros.
The poll, conducted from May 15th to May 30th, 2026, with the participation of over 42,000 Astros fans, officially announced its results this morning. Jose Altuve not only took the lead but also significantly surpassed other strong contenders such as Yordan Alvarez (18%) and Christian Walker (7%).
Upon receiving the announcement, Altuve – currently excelling in the 2026 season – emotionally shared at Minute Maid Park:
“Fifteen years have flown by. I still vividly remember the first day I stepped in here as a 21-year-old boy from Venezuela. The Houston fans have given me a second family.
This honor is not just for me, but for everyone who has been with me through the toughest days.”
Despite turning 36, Jose Altuve continues to prove he is an incredible phenomenon in MLB. In the 2026 season, Altuve is averaging .312 batting, 11 home runs, 28 RBIs, and leading the team in steals from bases. His speed, ball-picking ability, and fighting spirit remain undiminished.

Astros were a struggling team to becoming a dominant force in the American League, Altuve was always there – small in stature but enormous in heart.
